BOTOX® Cosmetic

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a highly purified protein injected into the skin to relax the muscles that cause some kinds of wrinkles. While BOTOX® can treat certain medical conditions, such as excessive sweating, it is most commonly used for cosmetic purposes, primarily to reduce wrinkles on the face and neck. BOTOX® injections are relatively painless, as the needle used is significantly smaller than those used for other injectable fillers.

BOTOX® is the brand name for botulinum toxin A, a therapeutic muscle-relaxing agent derived from the bacteria Clostridium Botulinum. Using a very fine needle, BOTOX® Cosmetic is injected into designated muscles in your face that are causing lines and wrinkles. The results of BOTOX® typically last up to four months, although many patients have reported results lasting up to a full year.

Dr. Fallek is pleased to introduce his VIP technique for injections, which can substantially decrease and nearly eliminate the pain of treatment.

Dermal Fillers

As we age, lines, furrows and wrinkles that develop on the skin cause us to look older, sad, angry or tired. Dermal fillers can not only prevent you from deepening these lines during natural facial movements, they can also erase these marks of aging, leaving you looking younger and refreshed.

Dermal fillers are FDA-approved and safe for use by most patients. These fillers are injected directly into the skin of the targeted area to restore volume and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Dr. Fallek offers patients several different dermal filler options, including Restylane®, Juvéderm®, Radiesse® and Sculptra®, in order to provide the best possible results for their individual needs.

Latisse®

There’s been a growing interest in this product ever since it was introduced. And it’s no wonder. LATISSE® is the first and only FDA-approved prescription treatment for inadequate or not enough eyelashes, growing them longer, fuller and darker. LATISSE® solution is a once-nightly treatment you apply topically to the base of your upper eyelashes, as instructed by your doctor. Then, gradually, the results come in. You may start to see more length in as little as 4 weeks and you should achieve full growth in 16 weeks. It’s not an illusion of growth. It’s real lash growth. LATISSE® makes lash growth possible because of its active ingredient: bimatoprost. Although the precise mechanism of action is unknown, LATISSE® is believed to affect the growth (anagen) phase of the eyelash hair cycle in two ways: first, it increases the length of this phase, and second, it increases the number of hairs in this growth phase. Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and other skin irregularities. It offers patients many advantages over traditional resurfacing procedures such as chemical peels and microdermabrasion, as it practically eliminates side effects such as discomfort, bleeding and bruising.

During laser skin resurfacing, a laser beam of intense, precisely-focused light vaporizes the surface skin and reveals the undamaged layer beneath. The procedure can take anywhere from a few minutes to two hours to perform, depending on the size and severity of the area being treated. Many patients can achieve noticeable improvements to the appearance of the skin after just one treatment session, although others may requires two or more sessions.

Laser Hair Removal

Whether for hygienic or cosmetic reasons, women and men who are tired of temporary, often painful methods of removing unwanted hair on the face, back, legs or other body areas may welcome laser hair removal with relief. Laser hair removal exposes specific areas of the body to beams of laser light that disable active hair follicles and delay or prevent re-growth. This treatment is ideal for patients with dark hair and light skin, although nearly anyone with unwanted facial or body hair can benefit from laser hair removal.

Since hairs grow at different times, multiple treatments will be needed in four to six week intervals in order to fully treat the targeted area. The number of sessions required depends on the patient's hair and skin color, hormone levels and hair follicle size.

Chemical Peels

A chemical peel can be used to effectively reduce the appearance of wrinkles, age spots, freckles, scarring and blotchiness, as well as improve skin tone and texture by removing damaged layers of skin. This procedure is also now performed on younger patients looking to prevent the signs of aging from appearing too early. A chemical peel can be combined with laser treatment for optimal results.

There are several different types of chemical peels available, depending on each patient's skin condition and goals for treatment, the most common of which include alphahydroxy acids (AHAs), trichloroacetic acids (TCAs) and phenol. Formula strengths vary from mild to strong; the best type for each patient will be determined by Dr. Fallek. There is no anesthesia required during a chemical peel and patients can return to work and other regular activities shortly after treatment.

Dermabrasion

Dermabrasion is a minimally invasive skin resurfacing procedure that improves the appearance and texture of the skin by gently removing the top layers on the entire face or targeted areas, depending on each patient's individual skin condition and goals for treatment. Patients often undergo dermabrasion to treat wrinkles, sun damage, uneven pigmentation, age spots or scarring caused by acne, injury or chicken pox.

During the dermabrasion procedure, the skin is frozen, typically with a spray, and then abraded with a high-speed rotary instrument for a dramatically smoother, fresher look. Treatment depth is customized for each patient depending on the amount of resurfacing required. The results of the dermabrasion procedure will appear as redness and swelling subside, and usually produce smoother skin and an overall improved appearance within a week.
